Contractor awarded Chinese coal operation contract

12th March 2010

Font size: - +

Mining equipment and services pro- vider Sandvik Mining & Con-struction has received an order from China’s Shenhua Energy for seven bolter miners for its Shendong coal production centre.

The contract is for a total of seven low- profile Sandvik MB670 bolter miners, which will be supplied during 2010, with the first delivery in May.

The Sandvik MB670 bolter miner is equipped to simultaneously cut a rectangularshaped roadway and install roof and rib bolts. It can be operated at top speeds in modern roadway development layouts owing to its ability to cut and install roof support in simultaneous operations.

The company reports that by using Sandvik bolter miners, coal mines in China have been able to achieve top performances with advancing rates of 50 m/d. The MB670 bolter miner has an operating height of between 3 m and 4,5 m. It has a cutting speed 1,5 m/s and a loading capacity of 25 t/min.

The company reports that this order was secured as a result of the performance demonstrated by its products globally, as well as the company’s efforts to continuously increase health and safety standards for machine operators.

The Shendong Coal branch is a coal production company owned by China’s Shenhua Energy and is responsible for the develop- ment and construction of the Shenfu Dongsheng mining area in the border zones of the southern part of Inner Mongolia and the north of the Shaanxi province, as well as the Baode coal mine, in the Shanxi province of China.
